Strawberry Rose Ice Cream…5 Minutes and four ingredients is all you need to have this in your life right now!
Ahhh Summer…. where are you going? It’s almost the end of August, and you know what that means. Summer will be coming to a close soon and then begins Pumpkin Spice mayhem. Or wait, has it already started? I mean, if you go into any retail store at the moment, we are already in Fall…WHY? How does everyone else feel about this? Sorry for the rant but pumpkins in August is a little much. I actually think I saw them first come out in July. I know, enough about that. You are here for the Strawberry Rose Ice Cream…right?
So, let’s talk about this super easy, super delicious, ice cream. I call this a speed scratch recipe. I’ve talked about this type of recipe before. Speed scratch is where you take ready made ingredients and combine them with a handful of other ingredients and you have a quick easy meal or in this case dessert. Great for those of you that are super busy or just like to look fancy without a lot of effort or both.
Remember the Key Lime Greek Yogurt Parfait? Same idea. In this recipe, we are taking ready made vanilla ice cream and using it as a base, adding a couple ingredients, and voila a genius Strawberry Rose Ice Cream. It doesn’t get any easier than this. This recipe is similar to the Lavender Blueberry Lemon Ice Cream . We are using the same idea of a vanilla bean base and creating a unique flavor using essential oils.
Essential oils in cooking? What? Yes! It’s a thing. As always, if you are new to essential oils, please read my Essential Oils 101 post to get up to speed on the safety of using essential oils. Not all of them are created the same and some are not safe to use in cooking. I’m a huge fan of essential oils, not just for cooking but for making bath salts, scrubs, lip balm, etc. etc. Check out the Create Tab for more ideas like this.
I can’t tell you the amount of flavors you can dream up with just a vanilla bean ice cream base and essential oils. Here are just some flavors that I developed for cooking classes I taught in the past to get you inspired:
- Key Lime Pie
- Cardamom Coffee Chip
- Lemongrass with Candied Ginger
- Black Pepper Chocolate Pretzel
- Pumpkin Pie
Feel free to experiment and have fun. Add a little beet powder for color if you want or some mix ins are always yummy. Would love to hear what you come up with. If you make this recipe or come up with a unique flavor you want to share, drop me a line in the comments section below.

- Mix until well combined while smashing the strawberries until they are broken up a bit.
- Add the essential oil and beet powder and blend until well combined.

Notes
- The beet powder gives the ice cream a nice pink color, but don’t worry if you don’t like beets. You won’t taste them.
